WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- If you've been waiting to hear Colombian singer Shakira during her scheduled stop in the DMV, you'll have to wait a little bit longer. The performer posted on her Instagram story that she canceled her two concert performances at Capital One Arena in D.C. on Nov. 24 and 25. Shakira said she is feeling overwhelmed by the support she's had since the announcement of her world tour "Las mujeres ya no lloran." She added that the demand for tickets and more shows has been so great that she's had to make changes to ensure she's able to see as many of her fans as possible. Fairfax County union workers to rally in support of Tysons Corner entertainment district Shakira also said that the production of her show is the biggest yet and something she never has done before. Shakira said she would shift the dates of the D.C. stop and others in North America to May 2025, adding "I know many of you made big efforts to be a part of these shows. Thank you so much for supporting me through this. Your understanding and love mean the world to me and help me continue breaking barriers. I'll be waiting for all of you with great anticipation. I promise to make it worth the wait and deliver the best show of my life." According to her statement, the cities and dates for the postponed concerts were to be announced Monday, Oct. 21.
