BOSTON (WWLP) - A commercial fisherman was sentenced to prison for evading taxes on more than $1.4 million in income. Federal lawsuit filed against College of Our Lady of the Elms after alleged on-campus sexual assault According to the Department of Justice in Boston, 49-year-old Brian Kobus of Durham, Connecticut worked for various Massachusetts fishing companies for over 30 years. He failed to file a federal income tax return or paid the taxes he owed from earning over $1.4 million between 2011 and 2013 and from 2017 to 2021. Kobus pleaded guilty to two counts of tax evasion and was sentenced on Wednesday to one year and one day in prison, to be followed by one year of supervised release. Kobus was also ordered to pay restitution to the United States of $377,839.
