MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Assistant United States Attorney Will Crow has been appointed to field calls from the public regarding allegations of fraud or voting rights abuse in West Tennessee. On Friday morning, U.S. Attorney Reagan Fondren announced that AUSA Will Crow will be handling the complaints in connection with the Justice Department's nationwide Election Day Program, which prosecutes election crimes and secures elections. “Voting is the cornerstone of American democracy,” said Fondren. “We have a duty to ensure that every citizen who chooses to exercise their right to vote can do so without interference or discrimination and that those votes are counted in a fair and free election." Crow will be on duty while polls are open and will respond to complaints regarding voting rights concerns and election fraud. He can be reached at 901-544-4231. This comes after complaints from early voters in Shelby County saying their votes defaulted to a different candidate than the one they voted for. But the U.S. Attorney's Office made clear that the move was not in reaction to those claims — rather, this action is routine during elections, an office spokesperson said. The U.S. Attorney's Office says the FBI will also have special agents available in each field office and resident agency throughout the country to respond to allegations of election fraud. The FBI can be reached at 865-544-0751. “Ensuring free and fair elections depends in large part on the assistance of the American electorate. It is important that those who have specific information about voting rights concerns or election fraud make that information available to the Department of Justice," Fondren said. Anyone with information regarding voting rights concerns or election fraud should call the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division at 800-253-3931 or file a complaint here.
