FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) -- So far, there's been a record-breaking number of people across the state who cast their ballots on the first day of early voting. To beat the crowd, some counties have a tracking tool keeping tabs on wait times.Forsyth County is included in that list. Yvonne McConnico arrived at Miller Park Community Center AT 11:20 a.m., and she expected a wait. “I’m going to say 40 minutes,” McConnico said. That is about what the Forsyth County's website estimated. The map marked the polling location orange, suggesting a longer wait.  “I just want to make sure I do it,” McConnico said. McConnico says it is a small price to pay to make her voice heard.  “I want women’s rights. That’s really important to me because ... I’m a child of the 50s, and my best friend died on an illegal abortion, and that’s something you don’t ever get over. You don’t forget that,” McConnico said. About 40 minutes into her wait, the polling staff announced three places with no wait. McConnico kept her place in line.   “No, I’m not leaving. If I have to sit on the ground, I’ll be just fine,” McConnico said. 20 minutes later, McConnico made her way inside the polling place to cast her vote.  About 30 minutes later, she came out. It took her one hour and 30 minutes to cast her vote.  12 minutes down the road, there was another polling place at Winston-Salem State University. The website showed no wait. For Theresa Varner, the longest part of the process was filling out the ballot. She was in and out the door in less than 15 minutes, and she says if people are putting off voting because of the crowds, they should consider the polling location at WSSU. Clay Abbott says the county's tracking tool is very helpful for voters. “Anytime people don’t have to stand around for too long, it’s a good thing. After a while, people get aggravated," Abbott said.
