MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) — A 34-year-old woman from Wisconsin was indicted on Oct. 16, 2024, for her role in a multi-million dollar healthcare fraud and kickback scheme. Lakia Jackson of Milwaukee is accused of orchestrating a scheme that defrauded Medicaid of $3.7 million by falsely claiming to provide prenatal care coordination and childcare coordination services to at-risk and low-income pregnant women and new mothers. Northern Wisconsin man indicted for receiving and distributing child pornography From June 2020 through December 2021, Jackson owned We Care Services, a Prenatal Care Coordination (PNCC) agency operating in Milwaukee. PNCC agencies are reimbursed by Medicaid for services aimed at addressing Wisconsin's historically high infant mortality rate among vulnerable populations. The indictment alleges that Jackson offered and provided kickbacks to incentivize women to enroll in prenatal care coordination services at We Care Services. She is accused of submitting millions of dollars in fraudulent claims for services that were never actually provided to those women. Additionally, Jackson allegedly submitted claims for services she claimed to have rendered to clients before she or anyone from her agency had ever met those clients.
