(CNN)– There may be less chocolate to steal from your kids’ trick-or-treat bags this Halloween.
Experts say that is because high cocoa prices are driving consumers to purchase more gummy and fruity treats.
An analyst at market research firm Circana told the Washington Post that while chocolate still dominates, more teens and middle age adults are leaning towards gummy and sour candy.
One because they tend to be less expensive, and two, there’s now a broader range of flavors to choose from.
Some examples are Twizzlers ghosts, and Sour Patch apple harvest candy.
The National Retail Federal expects Halloween spending in general to drop compared to last year’s record breaking sales with a 5% drop across the board on items like costumes and decor.
