KENMARE, ND (KXNET) — The 36th annual Goosefest is coming back to Kenmare this weekend. The GooseFest, which is an annual week-long hunting festival, starts on Saturday and will have activities throughout the town of Kenmare. Some of the activities include a chili cook-off, a sportsmen's auction, and live music. While the event typically attracts hunters from across North Dakota and the United States looking to hunt Snow Geese and Canadian Geese, Goosefest will also offer activities for kids. There will be a BB gun shoot at Kenmare Memorial Hall on Sunday and a clay shoot at Kenmare Country Club on Thursday. $46 million invested for food and nutrition security in the U.S. Goosefest organizer Arlen Gartner says the event is a chance for people in Kenmare to come together. "It's for everybody, not just for the hunters or anything like that. It's for the fun sportsmanship, getting people together, having some fun. It isn't always about hunting it's about families getting together and friendship," said Gartner. Tickets for shooting competitions, like the fun shoot, are $20 while the four-man shooting competition is $500. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
