BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- A Baton Rouge man accused of using a baseball bat to kill his roommate was formally charged with second-degree murder on Wednesday.
Hugo Molina-Campos, 26, was arrested by deputies in August in connection with the beating death. According to an affidavit, deputies found "a significant amount of blood" in front of a trailer on Hooper Road on Aug. 2.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said Molina-Campos was found covered in blood and detained for questioning.
A witness reportedly told investigators that he saw two men cleaning blood off of a patio and when he asked if everyone was okay, Molina-Campos replied, "Someone was hurt, but it was okay." Deputies said the witness called 911.

Molina-Campos told deputies he grabbed a baseball bat and hit the victim, identified as William Garcia Aguilero, several times after a fight while intoxicated, according to arrest documents. The sheriff's office said the two men were roommates.
Deputies said a second suspect, Douglas Carcamo Fuentez, admitted to helping clean up the scene. He was charged with obstruction of justice.
Molina-Campos' next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 21.
