One more cold night led to a widespread frost and freeze along and west of the I-81 corridor, with eastern locations not much warmer. Thankfully, full-blown sunshine is here to stay, and it's already warmed the entire DMV by 10-20 degrees since sunrise. This afternoon will be the first noticeable warmup of the week, with high temperatures outside of the mountains hitting the middle to upper 60s. This warming trend will continue into the weekend, but clear skies and calm winds will drop temperatures into the 30s and 40s tonight. Sheltered valleys west of I-95 could see more frost, and additional Frost Advisories may be issued where the growing season is still active. A massive, strong ridge of high pressure will hang over the East Coast through at least the middle of next week. This means continued sunny and warm days with clear and crisp nights. Over the weekend, temperatures will continue to slide up some each day. Highs on Saturday will reach the lower 70s, then the mid-70s on Sunday. Overnight lows stay similar to Friday night, in the 30s and 40s. Monday and Tuesday will likely be the warmest days of this stretch, with highs climbing into the upper 70s and overnight lows only dropping into the 40s and 50s. This ridge of high pressure will finally break down enough that a cold front will swing by next Wednesday and Thursday. Some clouds will come along with this front, but it will be tough to see any rainfall after how dry it's been. Most precipitation with this front will stay closer to the center of the storm system that created it, which will be up in Canada. A few spotty showers will be possible late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, but outside of that, we'll feel another burst of chilly air for the end of next week. High temperatures will tumble back into the 60s with lows in the lower 40s by next Thursday and Friday. Have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend! 7-Day Forecast: Today: Mostly sunny skies.
