(KRON) – A middle school student was cited after allegedly making “terrorist threats,” according to the Fairfield Police Department.   At 12:17 p.m. on Thursday, Fairfield police were notified of an online threat made by a 13-year-old Matt Garcia Career and College Academy student. The student’s parents were contacted and their residence was searched. According to police,  there were no weapons found. Fairfield PD said despite no weapon being located, the student was cited for making terrorist threats and disrupting the school environment. Fairfield PD took to Facebook to inform residences that the department and the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District deem threats of violence extremely serious.  Fairfield police seeking witnesses to fatal pedestrian crash In a message to the parents of the students in the district, the police department said their children are its “number one priority.”  “We know there’s no perfect formula for when or how to communicate during these high-pressure moments. The reality is that we live in challenging times, where threats like these are becoming all too familiar…” Fairfield PD continued, “Today’s technology, with cell phones and social media, adds another layer of difficulty. Rumors spread quickly, often causing unnecessary panic.” Fairfield PD asked the parents to rely on official police updates in incidents such as this.
