Opening statements begin in trial of second man accused in 2021 murder of Providence woman

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Opening arguments are expected to begin today in the trial of a man accused of being involved in the death of 24-year-old woman in Providence back in 2021.
Shawn Mann was charged with the killing of Miya Brophy-Baermann.
He was the alleged accomplice of Isaiah Pinkerton, who was sentenced to two life sentences.
According to prosecutors, Mann and Pinkerton killed the 24-year-old in a drive by shooting after they thought she standing with was a rival gang member outside the Roger Williams Green Building on Olney Street in Providence.
Jury selection started earlier this week, with opening statements anticipated to begin this morning in Providence County Superior Court.
