Courtesy of AlphaMedia USA-Lincoln.LINCOLN–(KFOR Oct. 17)–Lincoln Standing Bear’s football team captured their first victory in school history on Thursday night by jumping out to a 20-0 halftime lead, weathered a Lincoln Northwest comeback in the second half and held on for the 36-24 victory over the Falcons at Seacrest Field. The Grizzlies (1-7) got a boost on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Hayden Holdren to Cooper Grosserode in the first quarter and a two-point conversion made it 8-0.  The first of two touchdowns scored by freshman Paul Hart came on a fumble he scooped up and ran back for 56-yards to make it 14-0 Standing Bear.  Hart later caught a 40-yard pass that set up a one-yard touchdown run from Holdren and the Grizzlies took a 20-0 halftime lead. Northwest (0-8) committed five turnovers, three of which were interceptions, limited momentum.  But the Falcons found a way to score in the second half.    Zander Goering caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Sammy Jurgens with 5:30 left in the third quarter, but the point after attempt failed.  Northwest added another score, when running back Syncere Jones raced 30 yards for a touchdown in the final minute of the third quarter to pull the Falcons within a score, 20-12. Standing Bear responded in the fourth quarter with a one-yard touchdown pass to Hart, who also added the two-point conversion.  Then EJ Felder scored on a 13-yard run and Hart converted on the two-points to extend the Standing Bear lead to 36-12 with 1:39 left in the game. Jones sprinted for a 72-yard scoring strike with 1:04 to play, but the two-point conversion failed and 25-yard touchdown catch by Ryan Martinez with 37 seconds left proved to be the final points for Northwest in the game.
