BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- James and Sherri Johnson of Lola & Friends Bunny Rescue of South Mississippi introduced two beautiful lop-eared sister rabbits named Onyx and Harley. Onyx is the black rabbit and Harley is the beige Harlequin rabbit. Both girls are spayed and have all their shots. They love to eat, run, play and explore their surroundings. They're a bonded pair so a potential owner will need to adopt them together and keep both of them. Since this is a bonded pair, the adoption fee is $200. Adoption fees are $130 for single rabbits. The fee covers the rabbits getting fixed and all their vet needs. The Johnsons dedicate much of their time traveling around southern Mississippi and Louisiana catching rabbits who were dumped. After they catch the rabbits, they bring them to an exotic vet in the New Orleans area to get them checked out. Vet bills add up quickly in addition to providing food, treats and supplies for the rabbits they rescue. Any monetary or rabbit supply donations will be a help to the rescue. Although bunnies are cute and seem like they don't require a lot of work, they need just as much work as cats and dogs. It's important to make sure they have the proper diet, their nails stay trimmed and that they're not locked in a cage. They need to have a lot of space to run and explore. Bunnies are great pets to have. Potential adopters just need to make sure they're well-educated on correct bunny care and have enough time and money to properly take care of them.
