One Dead, Another Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Dump-Truck Crash near Salt Slough MERCED COUNTY, CA (October 18, 2024) – Davood Khodyseporgh sustained injuries Friday morning, in a fatal head-on dump-truck collision on Highway 165. Authorities received dispatch calls around 7:00 a.m., Salt Slough. According to reports, the driver of a northbound Honda swerved into the southbound lanes in an attempt to pass other vehicles. The Honda then collided head-on with an oncoming dump truck. The impact caused the Honda to catch fire, resulting in fatal injuries to its driver. Fire personnel from the California Department of Fire arrived and pronounced the Honda driver dead at the scene. The dump truck driver, 37-year-old Davood Khodyseporgh, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Emanuel Hospital in Turlock for treatment.
