Police Sergeant and One Other Injured after Police Pursuit Ends in Crash near Knightsen Avenue OAKLEY, CA (October 18, 2024) – Police arrested Devon Singleton was arrested Saturday night, in a head-on crash that injured two others on East Cypress Road. Oakley officers started to pursue a stolen vehicle around 6:10 p.m., speeding along Jersey Island Road. According to reports, officers deployed spike strips in an attempt to stop the suspect’s vehicle. Despite multiple tires being punctured, the suspect continued driving west on East Cypress Road. The chase progressed to the intersection of East Cypress Road and Knightsen Avenue. A police sergeant had positioned his patrol car at a nearby Valero gas station, where it collided head-on with the suspect’s vehicle. Officers eventually apprehended the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Devon Singleton of Antioch. Singleton, his passenger, and the police sergeant were all transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
