LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Friday! It’s another cold start to the day but the cold air doesn’t stick around long. Afternoon highs will be returning to the mid-to-upper 60s for your Friday. A lot of sunshine is in the forecast today as well thanks to high pressure continues to dominate the weather pattern across the region. Heading to high school football for your Friday evening? A jacket and a blanket will likely be needed as temperatures will be falling quickly as the sun sets. Saturday will start off with chilly temperatures for the morning hours with most locations in the upper 30s and low 40s. These chilly temperatures won’t be around long as the afternoon on Saturday will be even warmer than Friday, with many areas hitting the low 70s. If you plan on spending the day at Keeneland.. expect some chilly morning conditions at ‘The Hill’ before we warm-up for the afternoon. The warming trend continues on Sunday as afternoon highs will be a degree or two warmer than Saturday. It’s going to be a seasonably warm and dry start to next week. Mid-70s are in the forecast on Monday before we make a run at the upper 70s by Tuesday. This is ahead of a cold front that will be swinging through the area and briefly dropping our temperatures late next week. A few breezy rain showers will be possible Wednesday into Thursday morning as this front passes. This will drop our temperatures from the mid-70s into the mid-60s by Thursday afternoon. This cold spell won’t linger around like the cold spell this week as next weekend will likely be back above average temperatures-wise.
