COROLLA, N.C. (WAVY) — A Corolla wild horse turned into a Pegasus on Tuesday, gaining its wings after its death and leaving a rainbow in its wake. Mocha, a wild horse in her late 20s, was euthanized after living most of her life in the marsh. The mare was a force of nature despite being blind in one eye. Two people face charges following deadly accident involving wild horse in Corolla The horse was seen by contractors working on a house who then called the Corolla Wild Horse Fund. It was determined that the horse was unable to get up and a vet soon came to peacefully put her to sleep. "She was the kind of horse you feel guilty touching even after death, because she would have never wanted nor tolerated that in life," the nonprofit organization said, in a social media post. She was laid to rest in a secluded spot of her home. A rainbow was seen the following morning at the spot where she died. "We’d like to think it was a thank-you for respecting her wildness and letting her live and die with the dignity she deserved, and a reminder to stay hopeful for the future of this herd," the post said.
