FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Vincent Village hosted its annual fundraiser on Thursday at the Parkview Mirro Center for Research & Innovation. The event featured former Vincent Village Executive Director, Mayor Sharon Tucker, who served as the keynote speaker. The fundraiser began with an introduction of Rob Haworth as Vincent Village’s new executive director, followed by a speech from Mayor Tucker. The nonprofit also revealed their plans for a new facility. The new facility acts not only as a transition shelter, but a home base with offices, meeting spaces and more all in one central location. "When we're in two different places right now, it's really hard to have that natural interaction so in one place and plus the facilities," said Vincent Village Board Chair, John Christensen. "So, making sure the room that the clients have, they have all of the dignity they need to really grow. They've got an opportunity to blend as an extended family and then the staff can interact with them much more seamlessly and we've got the facilities, the rooms, to function with the programming that we have." Vincent Village's mission is to break generational cycles of homelessness through providing housing, transportation, employment opportunities, and more to families. "It's one of my favorite projects," said Mayor Sharon Tucker. "The mission I love to the core of my heart which is why I was dedicated to the work they're doing. I'm still dedicated to the mission in an absolutely new role. I 100% know the work that they do is valuable and needed. They are giving people opportunities to have a fresh start." Proceeds from the fundraiser support the organization's operating costs. Vincent Village has already raised $10 million, just shy of their $15-million goal towards the facility. Construction is expected to begin in spring of 2025.
