FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - There is less than a month left until the General Election as Fresno's Local Elections Office prepares for the big day.  County Clerk James Kus said they have increased staffing from about 30 to 100 people and that number will be closer to 600 staff by election night.  Early voters are also making their way to the polls. Barbara Temple was one of them. "Why did I vote early?" she said. "I don't want to be in a crowd and no line. I want to just vote and be peaceful like it is now, no drama." Temple was at the elections office nearly three weeks before election night dropping her ballot off at this drop box.  She has voted since she's been able to and encourages others to do the same.  "Yes, you should vote," said Temple. "There's initiatives and presidents and congresspeople and people that make decisions for us. And yes, you have to vote because you want your voice to be heard." Kus said they are expecting a large turnout on Election Night.  "There's obviously a big contest at the top. And when we've got a major contest like the presidential race, we expect a higher turnout," he said. "Every election is unique, but we're ready to help everyone. We're waiting and ready." Kus said voters have several options this year. Those include voting by mail, in person, live vote by mail, and using drop boxes.  "So Fresno County has 67 ballot drop boxes that are open and available across the county," he said.  For more information visit the Fresno County Clerk website.
