(KRON) -- Nearly 7,000 customers in the East Bay were without power after an outage Thursday afternoon, according to PG&E's outage map. Most customers affected are in Dublin, but some customers affected reside in Pleasanton. The outage was "unplanned," PG&E said. This is not part of the potential Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) in the Bay Area set to begin as early as Thursday. The outage was reported to PG&E at 3:21 p.m. As many as 6,917 customers were affected by the power outage, according to PG&E. The power was restored at about 5:21 p.m. See the map below for the initial outage. Red flag warning, potential power outages begin Thursday in Bay Area The PSPS mostly affects Solano County as nearly 2,500 customers may have their power shut off. Twenty-eight customers in Alameda County can potentially be affected by the PSPS. PG&E said in a statement that when it comes to the shutoffs, the utility’s “overarching goal is to stop catastrophic wildfires by proactively turning off power in targeted areas when extreme weather threatens our electric grid. We recognize that PSPS outages create hardships for our customers and communities. Our sole focus is to keep our customers safe.” Bay City News contributed to this report.
