KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department is investigating after a homicide occurred near 6th and Monroe Thursday night. FOX4 Forecast: A pinch warmer tomorrow According to KCPD, officers were dispatched to the area of the 3700 block of Independence Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. When they arrived, they located an adult male victim suffering from bodily trauma. EMS arrived on scene and took the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Additionally, KCPD officers were dispatched to the area of East 6th Street and Monroe Ave. on an ambulance call. It was determined these two incidents were related, with the incident at 6th and Monroe occurring first, but KCPD has yet to elaborate further. KCPD claims that the initial investigation determined the victim had blunt force trauma injuries. KCPD detectives are reportedly speaking with several witnesses, and crime scene personnel are attempting to locate any physical evidence, but as of this time, there are no suspects in custody. Anyone with any information is asked to contact homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or via the TIPS hotline at 819-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted via the TIPS hotline. This is an ongoing investigation, FOX4 will provide updates as they're made available.
