Image: CPD Columbia, SC (WOLO) — The Columbia Police Department is just one of several law enforcement agencies in the Midlands constantly reminding gun owners to be responsible with their firearms. This includes keeping them out of the reach of children, locked and stored in locations where they can not be stolen or end up in the hands of someone who by law, is not suppose to have access to them. Here is an example of why. Columbia Police shared on their social media account that there officers work daily to get stolen guns off the street and this month, from October 8, 2024 to October 11, 2024 Columbia Police were able to get their hands on various hand guns and assault rifles. In just three days, police confiscated a total of 11 guns. CPD says the guns were stolen from different streets over that period of time including Newland Road, Colonial Drive, Bailey Street, Leesburg Road, W. Beltline Boulevard, Two Notch Road, Jacob Mills Pond Road, and Ulmer Road. Each of the guns were taken and turned over to and test fired by the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network Analyst for testing. Police are asking anyone who may have tips that can lead them to lost or stolen guns to anonymously call the information into crimestoppers 1888-CRIME-SC or by submitting the tip to their mobile app. Categories: Local News, News, Richland
