ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Work on milling and resurfacing Park Avenue in Rochester is underway, but the removal of a number of trees came as a surprise to many.
Crews began removing trees from the thoroughfare, mainly from Vassar to Berkley.
News 8 reached out to the city, and this is all part of the plan. A spokesperson tells us these trees and their root systems were causing damage to the sidewalks and roads.
The trees will be replaced in 2025, with a different method to protect the streets and sidewalks, while still providing shade and beauty, a spokesperson said.
Work on the road is also expected to continue into 2025, providing new surfaces, accessibility features, and more.
