Man charged in Saturday's south Wichita fatal shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Sedgwick County judge charged a man with murder in connection to a shooting early last Saturday morning.
Armando Martinez-Rodriguez was charged with second-degree murder; unintentional but reckless, for the homicide of Marco Gomez-Arias, 30.
The shooting happened just after midnight on Saturday morning from the 4200 block of S. Hydraulic at the Emery Gardens apartment complex.

Police arrived and found Gomez-Arias suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he died.
During an investigation, police found Martinez-Rodriguez with stab wounds who had left the scene. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later arrested.
Martinez-Rodriguez is next due in court on Oct. 28.
