In U.S. Marshals, Tommy Lee Jones as Samuel Gerard tracks Mark Sheridan played by Wesley Snipes. One short scene involved actor Lorenzo Clemons in the role of Stark — who has allowed Sheridan to store items including a gun, money, passport, etc. inside his business. Stark, knowing that Sheridan attracts unnecessary attention from the Feds, disengages. “Now, make sure you take it all. I don’t want you back here again……I’m going as far as I’m prepared to go,” Stark explains. That exchange came to mind when informed about another celebration for former Trenton Mayor Douglas H. Palmer. Friday, October 18, a day before his 73rd birthday, a ceremony will recognize October 19 as “Douglas H. Palmer Day.” A more than two-hour (11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) celebration will play out inside the City Hall Atrium. A conversation poked fun at Palmer who offered self-deprecation. In September, members of City Council unanimously voted in favor of adding Palmer’s name to an annex portion of City Hall. The initiative received support here for Palmer who served as mayor from 1990 until 2010. Like Stark, the road ends here for Palmer adoration activities, at least until the ceremony that affixes his name to 319 East State St. Hopefully, leaders of this initiative can hold off on a city celebration for a warm day in summer when the City can host a BBQ in the back parking lot.
