TOPEKA (KSNT) - Drivers passing through Topeka should expect temporary ramp closures along I-70 this weekend. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced Thursday, Oct. 17 that ramps along eastbound and westbound I-70 are scheduled to have intermittent ramp closures, according to a news release. These closures will take place as part of KDOT's resurfacing project on the highway. KDOT spokeswoman Kate Craft said work will begin around 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19. All of the on-and-off ramps between MacVicar Avenue and Wanamaker road will temporarily close, but not all at the same time. Each ramp closure is expected for one hour or less while crews place shoulder edge wedges. Signage and message boards will be placed along I-70 to warn and direct drivers. Motorists should anticipate possible delays while this work is taking place. Shawnee Co. Sheriff encourages residents to register security cameras to help future investigations KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone.
