SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Witness testimony continued Thursday in the Leilani Simon murder trial. Simon is accused of killing her 20-month-old son, Quinton, in October 2022. She allegedly beat him to death and threw away his body in a dumpster. Police later found his body in a landfill. It was an eventful day in the courtroom with the jury hearing from seven witnesses. The day started with the cross-examination of Danny Youngkin, Leilani Simon's boyfriend at the time. The jury also heard from some of Leilani Simon's acquaintances, brother and former friends, one who said she conducted a seance and spoke with Quinton's ghost. Full coverage: Leilani Simon murder trial Meanwhile, text messages that were previously denied by Judge Tammy Stokes were admitted into evidence. The explicit messages are between Leilani Simon and Craig, a drug dealer she slept with, according to the state. "It's a little salacious, but it's the facts of the case, the case that she created," Assistant U.S. Attorney Tim Dean said. "I mean, I didn't write these messages. I didn't go visit Craig. This is the evidence." Friday, day five of the trial, is expected to continue with more witness testimony. The day is expected to begin again at 9 a.m. WSAV will bring you complete coverage. "He spoke to me through images when I was in my trance." Boling recalls her conversation with Quinton: "Mommy hurt me. I asked him, 'How did she hurt you?' And he told me, 'She hit me in the head really hard.' I said, 'OK, what else?' I said, 'Did you get any candy?' Thinking maybe he got into drugs or something. And he said, 'No.' She says she asked Quinton where he was and he showed her his lifeless body and the star of the church next to the landfill where he was later found. Boling says this was at the end of October or in November 2022 before his remains were found in the landfill. She mentions to the defense that she had had a craniotomy, which involves temporarily removing a section of the skull to access the brain. 4:47 p.m. - The state redirects. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tim Dean asks Boling about her encounter. "It's kind of embarrassing because, like you said, not everybody believes in this kind of stuff. Talea says Simon pushed Quinton down and fell on his butt. "That upset me," she says. 5:25 p.m. - Talea recalls a "pool incident" when Simon pushed Quinton into the pool. Talea says she told Simon he needed help down the stairs and she said "he's a big boy." Talea says before that incident, Simon asked her: "How the eff could Quinton look just like his daddy? I'm the one who gave birth to him." Simon is seen in court mouthing words under her breath. 5:33 p.m. - Talea recalls a time Simon backhanded Quinton, causing his head to hit the concrete. 5:37 p.m. - Talea says Quinton would stay at her family's house for "weeks at a time" and Simon would never check on him.
