Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Tonight’s game is the last time the Spurs play a game that doesn’t count in the standings, so the goal is pretty simple. A little conditioning, a chance for players to get some time together on the court against real competition, and a ride home to San Antonio where they can get ready for the real games. The Houston Rockets is a tough matchup for the Silver and Black, Alperen Sengun was a player who used his strength and aggressiveness to play well against Victor Wembanyama in their previous meetings. It will be interesting to see if that matchup happens tonight, or whether Pop will just play backups. The only remaining roster question seem to be who will take the final two-way spot, which could be Riley Minix, or Malachi Flynn, who hasn’t looked great in training camp, but does have a 50 point game in the NBA under his belt already. The real games start next week in Dallas against the Mavericks, who added Klay Thompson to the backcourt to help out Luka Doncic.
