RI adds jobs, but unemployment rate stays the same

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island saw an increase in jobs last month, while the unemployment rate remained unchanged, according to the R.I. Department of Labor and Training (DLT).
Job numbers from the DLT showed the state's unemployment rate didn't change from August and stayed at 4.6%. The number of jobs added was 3,300.

As it was last month, the unemployment rate is still higher than the national number, which decreased in September from 4.2% to 4.1%.
Compared to September 2023, DLT said the state has created 6,500 new jobs and unemployment has ticked up by 1.4%.
A total of 564,100 Rhode Islands were employed, after decreasing by 300 as of September.
