NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man who was arrested in connection with a crash that killed a Department of Transportation and Development driver has now been charged with vehicular homicide. On Sept. 24, the Louisiana State Police reported that troopers responded to a crash on Interstate 610 West near Canal Boulevard around 2 p.m. Woman arrested in connection to Lafourche Parish drug bust LSP officials said an initial report showed that 23-year-old Eric Anthony, a DOTD driver, was standing at the back of his DOTD vehicle preparing to help another motorist in a Chevrolet on the right shoulder of I-610 when a Nissan driven by 26-year-old Oscar Perez-Moran was driving west. Perez-Moran then allegedly drove off the road, hit Anthony and crashed into the DOTD vehicle. LSP officials said the Nissan rotated and hit the back of the Chevrolet. Anthony suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Arrest made in Seabrook neighborhood homicide Perez-Moran suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. LSP officials said Perez-Moran would be booked into the Orleans Parish jail on a charge of negligent homicide and other traffic-related charges. On Thursday, Oct. 17, LSP officials announced Perez-Moran's charges were upgraded to vehicular homicide after "toxicology results indicated the presence of illegal narcotics in Oscar G. Perez-Moran’s blood at the time of the crash."
