METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) — A Metairie man has pled guilty in a May child pornography case. The Office of U.S. Attorney Duane Evans reported that 40-year-old Carson Riess pled guilty to receipt of child pornography on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Court documents state that the agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office searched Riess' home on May 20 as part of a child sexual abuse material investigation. Charges upgraded for man accused in Gentilly-area crash death of DOTD driver According to court documents, an investigation "revealed Riess received images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of minors." Evans said Riess is set to be sentenced on Jan. 7, 2025. He faces a minimum sentence of five years and up to 20 years in prison, an up to $250,000 fine and a minimum of five years up to life of supervised release.
