UPDATE: From WHAS11 in Louisville: A brother of the mother who owned the house told WHAS11 she was killed in the fire. He said she worked at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, where a community vigil is planned at 7 p.m. on Thursday.   ORIGINAL STORY: CARROLLTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A 3-year-old girl was dramatically rescued from a house fire in downtown Carrollton early Thursday morning, with authorities suspecting that the blaze may have claimed other lives. The fire erupted around 6 a.m. at a residence located on the 200 block of 5th Street. Carrollton Police Detective Dave Roberts reported that first responders, arriving within minutes of the call, encountered the home fully engulfed in flames. The toddler was discovered near the back door and was initially taken to Carroll County Memorial Hospital. Due to the severity of her condition, she was later airlifted to a hospital in Louisville for further treatment. While the full extent of the tragedy is still unfolding, officials have indicated that other occupants of the home are feared dead, though ongoing flames delayed further search and recovery efforts. The young girl is believed not to have been home alone at the time of the incident. Investigations into the cause of the fire are currently being conducted by Carrollton Police alongside Kentucky State Police arson investigators and the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
