MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) - Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) announced on Thursday the winner of its annual 'Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin' contest, which is 'sweet' news for the victor. Manufactured by Krier Foods in Random Lake, 'Jolly Good Soda' was crowned at WMC's annual Business Day event in Madison. Jolly Good Soda beat out over 130 products en route to its victory. 29-year-old Wisconsin man earns UFC contract after ‘astonishing’ 36 second victory The products represented numerous manufacturers throughout the Badger State. The results were based on a process of the initial popular vote round and then a March Madness style bracket, cleverly referred to as "Manufacturing Madness." The final four choices competed to take home the trophy, produced by EK Machine and EFCO Finishing Corporation, a pair of Wisconsin manufacturers. The contest is designed to bring attention to the industry in Wisconsin along with the careers available in manufacturing throughout the state. The contest has been a WMC partnership with Johnson Financial Group for nine years to host the statewide contest, with more than 1.5 million votes cast since. This year's contest received about 150,000 votes in determining the winner. "Wisconsin manufacturers contribute more than just their products to the economy,” WMC President and CEO Kurt R. Bauer said in the release. "Our manufacturers create jobs, invest in their communities, and support their workforce." Bauer added praise for the participants as well, saying that the contest is a showcase of the products that are available worldwide. "The Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest showcases the depth and strength of manufacturing, including the diversity of products made right here in our backyard that are used all over the world," Bauer said in the release. "Congratulations to all the manufacturers who participated and the entire team at Jolly Good." Jolly Good Soda is a craft brand with a variety of flavors, from the classic Root Beer to the vibrant Blue Raspberry.
