EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Parents are invited to bring their children along as they cast their vote at one of the five participating early voting next week as part of the Future El Paso Voter Day initiative, the El Paso County Elections Department announced in a news release. The event, which aims to highlight the importance of civic engagement at a young age, will be held from 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the following locations: Bassett Place, 6101 Gateway Blvd. W. 79925. City of San Elizario Municipal Court, 12004 Socorro Rd. 79849. Dorris Van Doren Library, 551 Redd Rd. 79912. Marty Robbins Recreation Center, 11620 Vista Del Sol Dr. 79936. Nations Tobin Sports Center, 8831 Railroad Dr. 79904. “Research shows one of the strongest influences on a person’s voting habits is their parents. If a child’s parents vote, they are more likely to also vote,” Lisa Wise, El Paso County Elections administrator said. The Elections Department said children will receive a fun election pack at all five participating locations while supplies last. All 33 early voting locations will provide children with a fun “Future Voter” sticker. "Let’s celebrate democracy and empower our children with the knowledge and experience they need to become active voters once eligible to register to vote," read the news release.
