Arrest made in South Nevada homicide from May

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man has been charged in connection to the May 2024 shooting death of of 45-year-old Darryl Edward Scurry Jr.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers originally responded around 6 a.m. on May 23 to a reported shooting near the southbound off-ramp of I-25 at South Nevada Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found Scurry suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Scurry was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On Oct. 10, an arrest warrant was issued for 22-year-old Vonrobert Kennedy for Scurry's murder. CSPD said Kennedy has been charged while being held on unrelated charges at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
