BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Antique Village in Denham Springs will host the first Denham Springs Main Street Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, Oct. 19, along Mattie Street and in the parking lot of the old city hall. "The whole point of the event is to raise money for the shops and buildings in our historic antique district," said Elizabeth Baudoin, the chili cook-off committee marketer. The cook-off will involve teams preparing their chili between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. During that time, the shops and vendors selling things like baked goods and bread will be open. Guests can also get a punch card at one of two tents. Baudoin said each shop will have to punch that card, "and anyone that gets a punch from every shop gets their name put in a drawing for donated gifts from each of the shops in the village."
