BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A Kern County jury on Thursday convicted a man of all charges -- including two counts of first-degree murder -- in the killing of his ex-girlfriend's mother and common-law stepfather, according to court records. Javier Andrade-Mejia, 38, was found guilty of the March 18, 2023, shooting deaths of Cesar Antillon Munoz, 50, and Elidia Solis De Mejia, 45. It's alleged Andrade-Mejia was upset over child custody matters. Ex-BPD officer pleads no contest to vehicular manslaughter The couple were found dead at a duplex on Lexington Avenue. Munoz was found lying just outside the front doorway, a bullet wound to his head. Solis De Mejia was located in a bedroom. She had a gunshot wound to her mouth and was unresponsive. She was pronounced dead 30 minutes later. Never miss a story: Make KGET.com your homepage Forensic firearm examiners compared casings test-fired from a gun found at Andrade-Mejia's home with those located at the scene, looking for similar marks. They determined the gun fired the shots that killed Munoz and Solis De Mejia, prosecutor Joseph Marcano said at trial. Deputy Public Defender Jennifer Melgar, Andrade-Mejia's attorney, argued detectives failed to conduct a thorough investigation. She said they focused on Andrade-Mejia without considering other suspects.
