Heading into the ninth week of regular-season play, the only Lower Bucks Suburban One football team that would qualify for the playoffs is Neshaminy. The surging Redskins sit eighth on the power points chart and could really make a statement when undefeated and National Division-leading Central Bucks South travels to Heartbreak Ridge on Friday night. Even if Neshaminy was to lose that game, it might still be able to get a home playoff game by beating Pennsbury next week. As for the rest of the Sub One teams, Pennsbury is 17th and would in all probability make the playoffs with victories over Abington and Neshaminy. Enjoying its best season in decades, Bensalem (4-4) can remain in the playoff picture with an upset win over Upper Dublin. Ditto for Council Rock South (3-5), although the Hawks must first get past Quakertown and need a host of teams to stumble over the last two weeks. Abington (1-7) at Pennsbury (3-5), Friday, 7 p.m. — The positive is Pennsbury should win this game, pick up its fourth win and remain alive for a playoff berth. The negative is winning this game will result in very few power points because of Abington’s record. Pennsbury gave North Penn a good 22-14 battle last week and despite its record continues to play solid defense. Abington has been outscored in five league games by a staggering margin of 221-6. Central Bucks South (8-0) at Neshaminy (6-2), Friday, 7 p.m. — Although it’s very unlikely and a bunch of other games would have to go its way, Neshaminy could still tie for a Sub One National title with a win here. It will be difficult against the big and physical Titan defense, but the Redskins will have a chance if they can hit some long passes. This will also be a test for the defense against a C.B. South offense led by dual-threat quarterback Owen Pinkerton. Quakertown (4-4) at Council Rock South (3-5), Friday, 7 p.m. — Rock South still has faint playoff hopes, although it won’t be rewarded much if its beats Rock North next week. Beating Quakertown, however, would be a different story. Slowing down the Panthers’ offense is the tricky part. Quakertown has scored at least  34 points in its last five games and is very much in the Class 6A playoff picture. Upper Dublin (6-2) at Bensalem (4-4), Friday, 7 p.m. — It’s entirely possible the Owls could make the playoffs with two victories to close out the regular season. This is also a difficult task. Upper Dublin can lock up at least a share of a Sub One Continental crown and its offense is clicking with five wins in a row. Cheltenham (2-6) at Truman (1-7), Friday, 7 p.m. — The records might suggest this will be competitive, but don’t bet on it. Three of Cheltenham’s losses were by seven points or less, including a 20-14 setback at Upper Dublin last week. Bristol (5-1) at Jenkintown (4-3), Friday, 7 p.m. — This will give Bristol a bit of an indication of where it stands with its first of two games against Morrisville on deck next week. Jenkintown just lost to Morrisville, 27-14, and earlier lost to Lower Moreland, 20-14. Bristol recently beat Lower Moreland, 40-8. Souderton (5-3) at Council Rock North (1-7), Saturday, 1 p.m. — Souderton still has hopes it can win a Sub One Continental Division title and will lock up a playoff berth with a win over Rock North. All that’s left for Rock North is the chance to pull off a big upset against Rock South next Friday in Newtown. Morrisville (7-1) at Renaissance Academy (0-8), Friday, 7 p.m.  — These two have already met once this season and Morrisville won, 68-0. Nuff said? Conwell-Egan (4-3) at Archbishop Carroll (2-6), Friday, 7 p.m. — Conwell-Egan’s defense has looked good of late and the team just shut out Neumann-Goretti, 14-0. One of Carroll’s two wins was by one point against Neumann-Goretti, but it has also lost six of its last seven games. District 1 Class 6A 1. Central Bucks South  (8-0) 1,390; 2. North Penn (7-1) 1,330; 3.  Downingtown West (7-1) 1,280; 4. Haverford (7-1) 1,230; 5. Central Bucks West (6-2) 1,220; 6. Perkiomen Valley (6-2) 1,210; 7. Owen J. Roberts (7-1) 1,150; 8. Neshaminy (6-2) 1,120; 9. Plymouth-Whitemarsh (6-2) 1,010; 10. Souderton (5-3) 1,000; 11. Ridley (5-3) 960; 12. Dowingtown East (4-3) 820; 13. Coatesville (5-2) 820; 14. Quakertown (4-4) 900; 15. Pennridge (4-4) 900; 16. Spring-Ford (4-4) 890; 17. Pennsbury (3-5) 810; 18. Bensalem (4-4) 770; 19. Council Rock South (3-5) 730; 18. Council Rock North (1-7) 470; 30. Truman (1-7) 380.
