Now, his family is suing the county and the police department responsible for overseeing the investigation in federal court. According to a previously filed lawsuit Charley was intoxicated and his girlfriend had called the police to remove him from her home. When officers responded, they took him to a local gas station, and left him there. Later that night Michael Rael was driving home from "a gig" at a local bar when he struck Charley. The attorney for Charley's family said police are responsible for his death, arguing they should have taken him to jail for the night to sober up. Police said Rael showed no signs of intoxication. Rael was not criminally charged for the crash. [2] Suspects in online sex sting operation in New Mexico appear in court -  After a sting operation netted multiple suspects accused of trying to meet up with minors for sex, some of them went before a judge on Wednesday. Samantha Clark, 35, is accused of talking to a parent who she believed was offering their child for sex. Mahmoud Telfah, 35, a UNM graduate student is accused of sending messages to an undercover cop he thought was a 15-year-old girl. Matthew Jaramillo, 44, is accused of agreeing to meet with someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl. Stephen Phillips, a middle school teacher, is accused of trying to arrange a meeting with a 12-year-old. All four suspects will be held behind bars pending trial. [3] Precipitation ahead with strong winds - From the morning school commute on into the afternoon, temperatures will eventually reach into the high 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s, close to normal for this time of the year. Precipitation will mostly be confined to the mountains in the short term, but as a trough brings in another low pressure with even more moisture from the Pacific Ocean later tomorrow, more-widespread showers with rumbles of thunder and heavy mountain snow will be more likely, even in the Rio Grande Valley, as temperatures will drop a bit more with stronger southwesterly winds. [4] Tax & Revenue Department warn of letter scam - The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department is warning people of scam where residents receive letters claiming their property will be seized if taxes aren't paid. Officials say the letters may appear to have come from the government but are actually from a private company and include an 800 telephone number. To question the legitimacy of a letter, people can call 1-866-285-2996. A letter coming from the department will include a Letter ID number for taxpayers to reference when they call. [5] Is Albuquerque’s KiMo theatre haunted? - Officials at the KiMo Theatre say six-year-old Bobby Darnell died at the KiMo in 1951. Now, he's believed to haunt the building. Now, to make ensure things go smoothly, performers leave a little something for Bobby. From notes to toys to even alcohol, items are placed in a shrine near his photo backstage. The KiMo Theatre was built in 1927 and plans are already in the works to mark its 100th birthday in a few years.
