Rhodes at Gilmour What: Non-conference game When: 7 p.m., Oct. 18 Where: Weber Field Records: Rhodes 4-3, Gilmour 8-0 Last week: Gilmour def. Brush, 35-7, Rhodes was idle Playoff positioning: Gilmour is 3rd in Division III, Region 9, Rhodes is 12th in Division II, Region 6 For the record: The Lancers have been a runaway train this season, especially on the offensive side of the ball where they’re averaging 50.1 points per game. Quarterback Cooper Panteck is a big part of that offensive efficiency, as he leads the area with 2,161 yards passing and also 31 touchdown passes. That he’s done all that without throwing an interception is exceptional. Receivers Sean Dillard and (37-693) and Lars Broberg (22-445) are among the area leaders, and Ohio State commit Brody Lennon (20-429) is extremely dangerous, too. Gilmour only allows an average of 10 points per game, so any team that’s going to stand toe-to-toe with the Lancers is going to have to find a way to put some points on the board. Gilmour is already guaranteed a playoff berth. But a win this week against Division II Rhodes pushes the Lancers closer to a higher seed with a showdown against 5-2 VASJ in Week 10 coming up.
