RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources' Restore the Wild Artwork Competition has returned, and artists are encouraged to submit artwork featuring the Atlantic sturgeon. The department said winning pieces will be displayed in an exhibition at the gallery at Main Street Station in Richmond in March of 2025, and work should include the Atlantic sturgeon. This fish species travels up Virginia's tidal rivers in the spring and fall, and they can sometimes be seen breaching from the water. Artists are invited to submit in the categories of Natural History Illustration, Artistic Expression, Youth 10 and Under, and Youth 11-17. Photography submissions are not allowed, according to the department. Competition winners will be announced at a public opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 7. For more information, visit the department's website.
