(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Businesses downtown are still sorting through the damage a fire left on multiple stores earlier in October. At around 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) responded to a fire Downtown on Tejon Street, in a commercial building with multiple businesses. Crews found a fire inside Bingo Burger and were able to get it under control. Morning fire closes downtown restaurant Due to the fire, smoke was present throughout the commercial building. While Bingo Burger is closed indefinitely, they still have another location in Pueblo located at 191 Central Plz near El Pueblo History Museum. Solar Roast Coffee, also affected by the smoke, is also in Pueblo. However, other businesses did not have other locations to fall back on, such as True North Art Gallery, which was also forced to temporarily close due to smoke damage. True North is in the process of attempting to restore artwork that was also damaged. The gallery still has other artwork that can be purchased online, and the team has created a fundraiser to support the gallery while they are closed. The gallery hopes to raise funds by selling shirts and totes. Other businesses in the building have reopened since the fire or plan to reopen soon. No one was injured during the fire and no cause has been determined.
