KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Kings County announced on Wednesday that a new area code for their county will be going into effect by February 2025. The county says the new area code of 357 will go into effect by Feb. 26, 2025, to Kings County and all 559 jurisdictions. In December of last year, the California Public Utilities Commission announced that they would provide more numbers for the 559 area code as they have acted to ensure that telephone numbers continue to be available to meet the demand in the geographic region served by the 559 area code by providing the 357 area codes. The county says this overlay is an addition of another area code (357) to the same geographic region as the existing area code. The overlay does not require customers to change their existing area code or telephone numbers or make calls. King County says customers should ensure that all services, automatic dialing equipment, or other types of equipment recognize the new 357 area code as a valid area code and continue to store or program telephone numbers as 10-digit numbers.
