CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The Chicopee Police Department is warning residents about an uptick of cars left unlocked that were broken into recently. Newborn baby found abandoned outside on Worthington Street in Springfield Police say that over the past two weeks, there have been a number of reported car break-ins and all of them were left unlocked. They say that suspects are walking through neighborhoods looking for vehicles that are unlocked. The police shared a map of six pins identifying the following streets in the Chicopee Center area of reported incidents: Henry Harris Street Marion Street Brooks Ave Mellen Street Davenport Street Gilbert Ave This serves as a reminder to lock your vehicles, even if they are in your driveway, and remove any valuables from your car. Mass.gov provides a list of tips to ensure your vehicle safety: Park in well-lit areas Close and lock all windows and doors when you park Hide valuables out of sight, such as in the glove box or trunk Do not leave your keys in your vehicle Do not leave the area while your vehicle is running Get a good car alarm Add a car-theft tracking device Police urged residents to call them if they see anything suspicious.
