SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Savannah Ghost Pirates will drop the puck on their third season in franchise history on Friday. This year, they look to accomplish a first in program history: A playoff berth. The Ghost Pirates have struggled in their first two seasons. Last year, they finished sixth out of seven teams in the South Division of the Eastern Conference. In their inaugural campaign, they were last in the division. This year, the organization brought in its third head coach in three seasons to turn things around and players say things are different. "I think maybe their messages are both very direct," forward Keltie Jeri-Leon said. "They're there for you, for if you have questions, you if you need help with anything, as if they're there to help you get better every day. I think that's something that's huge for us." "Obviously," assistant coach Brenden Kotyk said, "you want to get your guys to the next level, but at the end of the day, you want to be playing playoff hockey in an opportunity to win a championship. So, you know,  it would be awesome. The fans, you know, they deserve it." The Ghost Pirates open the season at home on Friday. They take on the Indy Fuel at 7:30 p.m.
