SHAWNEE, Okla. (KFOR) — Safe Events For Families (SEFF) announced on Wednesday the long awaited Shawnee Christmas Parade of Lights will take place Friday, December 13. The theme for the parade this year is "Griswold Christmas," which embraces the popular 1989 Christmas movie, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and engaging the community in the festive and joyful holiday magic. The rooftop firework display will also make its return for the first time in several years. LOCAL NEWS: Oklahoma City Zoo caring for two rare species of fish The parade is set to start on December 13 at 7 p.m. with lineup time beginning at 5 p.m. The registration fee to participate in the parade is $20, with the exception of bands. Additional information will be provided on the SEFF Facebook page. Those who registered will receive an email that provides further details and lineup location. Those who want to participate in the parade must meet the following requirements for entry. All floats must incorporate holiday lights and fully embrace the Griswold Christmas theme. Car groups will have a limit on the number of vehicles allowed to ensure a safe and manageable lineup.
