OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A metro woman wants answers after she says her apartment complex came up with a set of rules telling her she cannot flush toilet paper. Paulette Coleman lives in the Mira Vista Apartments near NW 23rd and Meridian. LOCAL NEWS: Crews respond to water main break in NW OKC "This is unbelievable, it's distressing me," she said. Coleman says all she's doing is flushing the toilet after using the bathroom and is trying her best to comply with the rules. Paulette Coleman sign in her bathroom to remind her kids "I have a trash can that's in my bathroom and I put a trash bag in it and I told them to put that in there every time that they use the bathroom," said Coleman. Coleman says she's now receiving notices from management. The notice says, "Warning, next time there is a sewer backup there will be a $50 fine added to the next months rent." It continues to read, "Please do not flush toilet paper, wipes, paper towels, etc., we do not want to charge you $100 next time." Coleman says she was also told that flushing the toilet paper is a health issue. News 4 tried speaking with management at the Mira Vista Apartments, but the door was locked and no one answered. We were also told by security to leave the property. News 4 also contacted Oklahoma City's Utility Division to see if there are current problems with sewage in the area. The Utility Division sent a statement saying: After reviewing our Line Maintenance work orders, we found that there is no City sewer main nor Utilities work affecting the Mira Vista Apartments. Jasmine Morris, Public Information & Marketing Manager Paulette Coleman says she's a single mom of two and is just trying to do what's right. "I can't even sleep at night because I'm worried about you charging me," said Coleman.
