INDIANAPOLIS -- Washington Township Schools has named a new superintendent following the conclusion of a board meeting Wednesday. According to a news release, the Board of Education of the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township approved the hiring of Sean Taylor as the district's new superintendent. Taylor will transition to the new role beginning on July 1, 2025. Taylor has worked for Washington Township Schools for the last 16 years where he most recently served as the district's associate superintendent. Taylor has also served in other capacities, including as assistant principal, elementary school teacher and middle school English Language Arts teacher before arriving at Washington Township Schools in 2009. Taylor has earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Ball State University, a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina and a Doctoral degree in Executive Educational Leadership from Indiana University in Bloomington. The decision to appoint Taylor was reached after a survey that was distributed to community members in May. This was followed by several rounds of interviews that were conducted with selected applicants. “I am incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of superintendent for this outstandingdistrict that I have proudly served for the past 16 years in various leadership and principal roles,” said Taylor. “Having had the privilege of 5 years of exemplary mentorship from our currentsuperintendent, to my work across our school communities, I’ve seen firsthand the dedication, talent, and diversity that make our district truly a destination district. This deep understanding of our district’s strengths, challenges, and opportunities will allow me to help sustain and build upon the excellence we've achieved together.”
