OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) — Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul announced Wednesday that Dielectric Materials, Inc. has reached a $90,000 settlement with the state over alleged violations of hazardous waste management laws. The violations occurred at the company’s facility in Ozaukee County, where it produces powders used in ceramic capacitors. According to the complaint, the facility generated hazardous levels of barium and lead, substances that pose risks to human health and the environment. Police in Wisconsin reminding the community to stay respectful as the election approaches “Hazardous waste must be managed properly in order to protect people’s health and our environment,” said Kaul. “Companies that are responsible for hazardous waste must ensure that they are complying with the applicable laws.” 29-year-old Wisconsin man earns UFC contract after ‘astonishing’ 36 second victory The complaint alleges that Dielectric Materials failed to make accurate hazardous waste determinations, did not arrange for the transport of hazardous waste by a licensed transporter, and operated a hazardous waste facility without a proper license. Assistant Attorney General Tressie Kamp represented the state in the case, working in collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The Legislature's Joint Committee on Finance approved the settlement on Sept. 26, 2024.
