FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Another tenant is exiting Union Street Market. Kekionga Craft Company announced Wednesday it would be closing its Electric Works location at the end of October. The company, which primarily offers local selections of cider and beer, has had a presence there since the market opened in 2022. According to a social media post, Kekionga decided not to extend its lease due to "the changing landscape". Kekionga will continue to serve customers at its brick-and-mortar on Maysville Road, where the company said its operations remain strong. Read the full announcement below: "We have decided not to extend our lease and our last day of service inside of the Union Street Market (USM) will be 10/31/2024. With the changing landscape, it no longer made sense for Kekionga Craft Co. to be a tenant inside USM. We're thankful for our time there and we are fortunate our tenure was successful. We wish USM and its current tenants the best of luck. Operations at our main location remain strong and we encourage you to visit us at 7328 Maysville Rd!" Electric Works also released a statement to WANE 15 following the announcement: "Kekionga Craft Company will continue serving visitors at its location in the West Hall at Union Street Market until Oct. 31. While we are disappointed to see them leave the Market, we are excited that we will continue to offer their outstanding products at a new concept launching in the East Hall next month. This new concept is one of multiple updates to the Market we have planned in the coming months as we continue working to bring a unique, appealing and diverse breadth of vendors to the Market. We wish Kekionga Craft Company continued success in their future endeavors and thank them for their collaboration." Kekionga is far from the first tenant to step away from Electric Works. Earlier this year, Union Street Market addressed the turnover rate and labeled itself as “an incubator space” used to help new businesses grow. But unlike Kekionga, not every other vendor has had a separate venue to continue business at the same pace. Echoing the sentiments of other tenants who have said goodbye, Kekionga said it wishes the market and its tenants the best of luck. *WANE 15's Clayton McMahan contributed to this report
